Development Management

For over forty years, CAAS has provided advice and support to Planning Authorities in the assessment of individual planning proposals – often availing of the ‘CAAS Subscription Service’ – to meet the onerous time constraints of planning’s development management system. Many local authorities appreciate the ability to depend on our provision of rapid specialist advice – particularly in relation to  complex planning applications.  Independent specialist guidance has proven to be of great assistance  in reaching secure and defensible planning recommendations and decisions in such cases, which often include complex and specialised environmental or heritage considerations. This work has included the reviewing of Environmental Impact Statements – a service that is likely to be increasingly required following the introduction of the new EIA Directive (2014/52/EU) which requires consent authorities to use “competent experts” in the EIA process.
