CAAS is the only Irish planning and environmental consultancy that exclusively serves public sector authorities and agencies.
Set up in 1972, the Conservation and Amenity Advisory Services (CAAS), was a unit within An Foras Forbartha that provided specialist advice to the planning sections of Local Authorities. It focused on ecological resources, the protection and enhancement of landscapes and the fabric of towns and villages. CAAS has produced invaluable contemporary guidance documents on topics as diverse as traditional shopfronts, hedgerows and tree planting. After the closure of An Foras Forbartha, in 1987, CAAS emerged as a dedicated consultancy and continues to work for Local Authorities and public agencies.
Today, over forty years later, we continue to assist Local Authorities to have access to highly skilled professional advice, often in the most challenging of new and emerging areas of practice. We have evolved to meet current and pre-empt emerging needs of Local Authorities and public agencies that operate in an area of increasingly complex legislative and procedural requirements, usually with restricted resources. We also remaining active in our traditional planning services work.
